This is a daily from the story Lady Killers. Like many of O'Donnell's stories, this sequence begins going in one direction and takes a radical turn. As the story opens, Modesty is approached by a man who saved her life and is asked for a favor. This favor eventually leads her to a learn of the kidnapping of a 9-year old girl by the Daughters of Freedon... a group of female assassins (ergo... LADY Killers)... and her uncle Zakhi. To rescue the girl, Modesty arranges her own kidnapping to infiltrate the group and ultimately bring down the gang. Here, Modesty has let it be known that she is in the possession of a number of diamonds and the Lady Killers decide to kidnap her and "gouge a fortune out of her." The last panel has a nice shot of Modesty letting Willie know that she is being watched and ready for the "snatch". The original is in excellent condition (very white), with an image area of 5.5 x 18.75" on a larger 7 x 22" board. All lettering is done on the board and unlike most of Modesty dailies, this one is on heavy, unstripped, 4-ply illustration board.
