This is an original On Stage Sunday strip by Leonard Starr that appeared on January 19, 1975... over 43 years ago. This Sunday is from a story arc featuring Faye Beamus and her ingenue daughter, Trish. Trish has high ambitions of stardom and auditions for a role on Mary's new TV show, but it is the mother who wins the part. This Sunday shows Faye helping Mary and the director figure out the best pace for the camera shots which leads to her being hired. On Stage Sundays changed over the years. Originally, they (like a lot of other Sunday strips) were "composed" in production using cut panels glued to a board. This one is done on one sheet. The logo and panel 5 (the shot of the theater, which was frequently used) are pasted on stats; the rest is all art. Ingterestingly, the last panel of this Sunday is the first panel of the next daily strip. The strip is signed and dated in the last panel... great faces and poses by the master, Leonard Starr. The original has an image area of 14.5 x 22" on a larger piece of 17 x 25" 2-ply Bainbridge board. The original is in nice shape but does have some dirt at the top of the strip (that can be seen in the scan) and was folded in half at some point - a vertical crease can be seen in the scan. I am also including the color guide for the Sunday (seen in the additional image). That is a piece of velum with colors placed over the original As always, shipping is not included in the price but can be negotiated. Also, checks and money orders are highly preferred. Sorry... I prefer not to take PayPal unless sent as a Thanks.
